DECEMBER Virtual Coffee Meet Up: Farmer Round Table

Virtual Coffee Meet-Up: Farmer Roundtable
☕ Date: Monday, December 15
🕐 Time: 1:00 to 2:00 PM EST
📍 Online (Zoom)

Pull up a chair and pour yourself a coffee. Join us for a relaxed and meaningful conversation with three organic farmers who are cultivating resilient, biodiverse, and community-rooted farms across Ontario.

Meet the panelists:

Steve D’Alimonte is the owner/operator of Piccolo Farm Organics (PFO). After completing the Ignatius Farm Immersion Internship program in 2021, Steve started PFO in 2022 on a third of an acre in his backyard. PFO primarily grows Italian varieties of vegetables or vegetables commonly used in Italian cuisine. PFO has since expanded into offering prepared food products that incorporate their crops (including vegetable-infused pastas, pestos, tomato sauces and focaccia).

In 2024, PFO began leasing a plot of land at Ignatius Farm to allow them to grow their operation including a new subscription program that includes a mix of fresh vegetables and prepared food, delivered to your door. While not certified organic, PFO uses only organic and regenerative farming methods. PFO’s prepared food products are available in several Guelph retail locations as well as being distributed by Mamma Earth Organics.

David Mazur-Goulet co-owns and operates Heartbeet Farm with Kate Garvie, a community-supported agriculture operation growing certified organic vegetables. Located in North Augusta (1 hour south of Ottawa), the farm feeds over 200 individuals and families through a CSA program, farmers’ market, online store, and food bank donations from June to December.

He holds diplomas in Entrepreneurship and Green Business Management from Algonquin College and a certificate in sustainable vegetable production from the University of Vermont.

David serves as Local Treasurer for the National Farmers Union and sits on national and provincial level committees. During the off-season, he helps small businesses and non-profits improve their digital communications to increase engagement and revenue.

The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Erica Shelley, guiding an open and thoughtful exchange on organic farming today.

Whether you are a farmer, food advocate, or simply curious about life on the land, this session offers a warm and welcoming space to listen, learn, and connect.

Free to attend. Registration required.
